Francis H. Minton

Francis H. “Frank” Minton, age 68, died after a long fight with chronic illness on Sunday, July 6, 2025 at Lowell General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Sandra J. (Lapham) Minton with whom he shared 48 years of marriage.

Born in Lowell on May 25, 1957, he was the son of Rita F. (Gauthier) Minton of Lowell and the late Francis J. Minton. He was raised and educated in Lowell, graduating from Lowell High School, Class of 1975. He was a hard worker all of his life. Over the years, he worked at many places, including McDonald’s, Bea’s and Merrimack Magnetics. He worked in the hangar at Lockhead-Sanders, where he was a proud Hangar Rat. He graduated the police academy in 1993, where he later retired as a Campus Police Officer at the Tewksbury State Hospital. He worked with the local AFSCME union, summup and also council for 30 years.

Frank, was most proud of his service in the Army National Guard, for over 20 years.

Frank was avid model car enthusiast, building over 150 models through the years. Even melting down plastic, shaping and creating his own from scratch. He enjoyed crosswords and especially loved having his wife gather him the Lowell Sun and Boston Herald to get the more so challenging ones then ones found in books. He was also a fan of Elvis and his music.

In addition to his wife Sandra, Frank is survived by his two daughters, Jennifer Lohmer and her husband, Michael and Kimberly Daneault and her husband, Kenneth, Jr.; his grandson, Nathaniel; his brother, Dennis Minton and his wife, Edith of Maine; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to Frank’s Life Celebration on Sunday, July 13, 2025 from 2 until 5 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell. His funeral service will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM in the funeral home. Burial to follow in Westlawn I Cemetery, Lowell.
