Francis J. Callery

LOWELL - Francis J. Callery, 83, a life long Lowell resident, died on November 27, 2008 after a brief illness.
He was born in Lowell on August 6, 1925 a son of the late James J. and Catherine (Morris) Callery.
He was predeceased by his brothers James J. Callery, Jr. and John J. Callery.
Mr. Callery attended Lowell Schools and graduated from Lowell High School with the Class of 1943. He served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II.
He was a retiree of New England Telephone/Nynex. Mr. Callery was well known in the Centralville section where he lived for 75 years. He currently resided at Father Norton Manor in Lowell. He was affectionately called "Da" by two generations of his family. He was a sports fan who followed all pro, college and local sports. He enjoyed the company of his family and many friends. He also enjoyed a good meal, a cigar and a bottle of Bud Light.
Mr. Callery will be remembered as a kind, generous man by all who were fortunate to know him.
He is survived by his niece and her partner, Sharon Callery and Ray Costello, his nephews, Michael Callery and his wife Mary, Patrick Callery and his wife Karen, Kevin Callery and James Callery; his sister-in-law, Alice Callery. He is loved by grand and great nieces and nephews, Cara Conley, Michael Conley, Catherine Callery, Sean Callery, Timothy Callery, Conor Callery, Nathan McCarthy, Eleanor Callery, Emily Callery, Brian Callery, Erin Conley and Michaela Conley. He is also survived by his dear friends Helene and Artie Parent and his friends at Father Norton Manor.
