DANVILLE, NH - Francis W. Burns, age 93, a longtime resident of Danville, NH and former Dracut resident died Monday, March 22, 2021 at his home following a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Veronica L. (Riley) Burns, to whom he was married for 70 years.
He was born in Lawrence on June 14, 1927, and was the son of the late Francis W. and Mary E. (Boucher) Burns. He received his education in Lawrence schools and was a graduate of Lawrence High School.
Francis proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for many years in the shipping and receiving department at Sylvania in Waltham.
Francis enjoyed watching sports, especially the New England Patriots and the Boston Bruins and he enjoyed watching his son Kenneth play hockey when he was younger. He also enjoyed gardening, working in his yard, and spending time around the campfire.
Francis' greatest joy was the time spent in the company of his loving family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three sons, William Burns and his wife Melissa of Sanford, ME, Robert Burns of Dracut, and Kenneth Burns and his wife Becky of East Kingston NH; nine grandchildren, Erika Crean and her husband Gregg, Briana Burns, Robin Marion and her husband Bobby, Robbie Burns and his wife Jenn, Brooke Burns, Lonnie Burns, Jordan Burns, Nathan Burns, and Ethan Burns; five great grandchildren, Kayla Marion, Samantha Marion, Brandon Marion, Mason Burns and Liam Burns; and a great great grandson, TJ Marion. He was also the brother of the late Rita Dumas.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Francis' Life Celebration at the MCKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Friday from 8:30 until 10:30am followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00am at St. Michael Church in Lowell. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery in Lowell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Francis' memory to Rockingham Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice, 137 Epping Rd., Exeter, NH 03833.
