Francis J. Burns

LOWELL - Francis J. "Sheriff" Burns, 87, husband of the late Marguerite (Belval) Burns, died Tuesday evening, October 28, 2008 in a local nursing home.
Born in Lowell on January 14, 1921, he was a son of the late Thomas F. and Nancy L. (Levy) Burns.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Burns was employed as a project manager with the Raytheon Corp. of South Lowell.
An Army Veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Tyngsboro American Legion, Post 247 and a life member of the VFW, Walker Rogers Post 662. He also belonged to the Lowell Lodge of Elks and the Centralville Social Club.
A resident of the Centralville section of Lowell, he was a communicant of the former St. Louis de France Church.
He is survived by a brother and his wife, Thomas B. and Doris Burns of Lowell; a sister-in-law, Mary Burns of Arcadia, CA; also several nieces and nephews. He was a brother of the late William Frederick, Rudolph and Gerard Burns.
