Frances E. Lipomi

May 3, 1959 — January 9, 2025

Dracut

Frances Eva “Fran” Lipomi, age 65, of Dracut, passed away unexpectedly of heart failure on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Lowell General Hospital. Her brother, Chuck, was by her side. Born on May 3, 1959 she was the daughter of the late Theresa L. (Lusignan) and Francis J. “Frank” Lipomi.

Fran attended Dracut public schools and earned her bachelor’s degree in Accounting at the University of Lowell, where she also assisted in the Mathematics department. As an accountant, she was employed by several small businesses and later worked in retail for Filenes, which later became Macy’s. In her retirement she frequented the Dracut public library and the Tewksbury senior center for bingo and other activities.

Fran was an optimistic, no-nonsense, independent woman with simple tastes and a joy for living. She was caring and considerate and carried the fruit of the Holy Spirit. She remained active and maintained many friendships throughout her life. Through these relationships, she had opportunities to travel to Europe and around the United States.

Fran was a devoted daughter and a loyal friend, known as the glue that held them all together and faithfully prayed for all of them and their families. Her friends’ parents also loved Fran, at least one Mom was known to laughingly declare that she preferred Fran over her own daughter. Fran was an avid letter writer and always made the effort to keep in touch and remember holidays and birthdays.

In her lifetime, Fran was artistic in drawing and calligraphy. She liked creating home-made cards, crocheting and baking. She enjoyed walking and exercising, yoga at the library, gardening and yard work at home. She could play the piano and enjoyed singing and at one time was an active member of the St. Mark’s Catholic Church choir in Londonderry, NH. She had a beautiful voice and a memory for lyrics and a love of attending musical theatre, whether it be a professional production or in support of her friends’ talented children.

Fran was an ardent reader, an amazing on-line WWF Scrabble player and a fan of sudoku and crossword puzzles. In the summer, she enjoyed day trips to the beach and vacations in Maine at the lake with her friend’s family.

In her youth, Fran had a passion for raising rabbits, favoring lop-eared varieties and maintained a collection of bunny figurines gifted by friends and family. She also liked dogs but dogs absolutely loved Fran. Fran was loving to her friends’ children and they adored her. She was an adopted aunt to many children over the years. Fran had an open heart and gave generously of her time and talents.

She is survived by her brother, Charles “Chuck” Lipomi of Dracut; her sister, Lisa Lipomi of Dracut; her niece, Angela Ryan of Nashville, TN; as well as many cousins. She will also be missed by all her old friends from school and work and more recent friends from yoga class, book club and Tuesday bingo.
