Mrs. Florence Mary (Rondeau) Moran, 87, a lifelong resident of Lowell, passed away peacefully at D'Youville Senior Care on Friday, October 8, 2010. She was the wife of the late Charles W. Moran, Sr. She was the dear partner of Thomas P. O'Rourke of Lowell who survives her.
Born October 16, 1922, Mrs. Moran was the daughter of the late Joseph Arthur and Lillian Mae (Lapan) Rondeau. She was educated at the Lincoln and Morey Schools and Lowell High School. A communicant of St. Michael Church in Lowell, Florence held a deep devotion to Our Lady of the Snows. For decades she was a waitress at many of the finest restaurants in the Lowell area including The Lobster Cot, The High Hat, The Princeton Lounge, and The Red Tavern.
Her favorite pursuits as a young woman were horseback riding and dancing, and she has always maintained a love of music and travel. Besides her roles as loving mother and hardworking, talented homemaker, she was a tireless caregiver to many of the elderly members of her extended family. Always evident at numerous holiday gatherings and family reunions was her intense pride in the accomplishments of her precious children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her lively sense of humor and her kind, generous spirit.
Mrs. Moran is survived by her son, Charles W. "Chuck" and his wife Dianne (Cabana) Moran of Chelmsford, and three daughters, Kathleen E. Mulhall of Hyde Park, Eileen T. and her husband J. Michael Earle of Lowell, and Joyce M. and her husband Arthur W. Lamb of Wakefield; four grandchildren, Kelly (Moran) and her husband Archie Wells of Cary, NC, Keith Moran and his partner Melissa Perkins of Salem, Michaeleen Earle Crowell and her husband James of Washington, DC, and Kathleen Earle of Lowell; she also leaves four great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren, Judith Lamb and her husband Paul Choudhury, Maureen (Lamb) Gullifa and her husband William, and Deborah Lamb and her husband Robert Chuisa; and nine step great-grandchildren; she also leaves the members of the O'Rourke family including Thomas "Salty" O'Rourke, Sharon, Joy, and Robbie Davidson, Pamela and Jack Callahan and Shawn O'Rourke, Maura, Melissa, Richard, and Amanda Ryder, and their seven children; a beloved sister M. Beatrice LaBranche of Clovis, NM, a dear sister-in-law, Alice Rondeau of Lowell, MA, dozens of special nieces and nephews, as well as her close friend Dot Kecy.
Mrs. Moran was predeceased by her siblings Alma Gendreau, Rena Ayotte, Clair Rondeau, Albert Rondeau, Irene DeLong, A. Norman Rondeau, Rita Roddy, and Alfred Rondeau; her son-in-law Charles P. Mulhall, Jr., as well as her dear friend Mary White.
