Florence C."Flo" (Sawyer) Chartrand, a lifelong Lowell resident, passed away on Monday, April, 3, 2017 following a period of declining health. She was 85.
Born in Lowell on May 9, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Yvonne (Paquin) Sawyer.
Flo grew up in a family owned tenement house in the Little Canada section of Lowell. She was a graduate of St. Joseph High School. She was a master stitcher and worked in the local mills, including Hathaway shirt. She later worked and retired from the City of Lowell, where she worked as a clerk for the City Clerk.
In her younger years Flo enjoyed ballroom dancing. Flo loved crafts. Flo also took pleasure in painting, needlepoint, knitting and crocheting. She put her stitching knowledge to work by making clothing for herself and her children. Flo also enjoyed going out to dinner at several local restaurants.
Survivors include her former husband Wilfred J. "Freddie" Chartrand; her children, Paul Chartrand of Lowell, Anita Milham and her significant other, John Bradford Davidson of Franklin; a grandson, Edwin Milham, Jr.,; a sister, Pauline Peloquin of Pelham, NH; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Gerard Chartrand, and sister of the late Richard and Maurice Sawyer, Gilberta "Gil" Frechette, and Lorette Baldwin.
