Fleurette C. “Flo” (Ayotte) Sheehy, 91, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026, at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill, Massachusetts. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Frederick J. Sheehy, who passed in 2005.

Born on June 11, 1935, in Lowell, Massachusetts, Flo lived a life filled with music, laughter, devotion to family, and a generous love for those around her.

Following in her mother’s footsteps, she graduated from St. Louis Academy and began working at Ayotte’s Spa, where she served many cups of coffee. For 35 years, she worked for the City of Lowell, and the last 29 years were spent as the Secretary at the Greenhalge School, retiring in 1999.

A gifted pianist and accompanist, Flo shared her musical talents with countless audiences and performers throughout the Merrimack Valley and Southern New Hampshire. For more than 40 years, she served as accompanist for the Franco-American Male Chorus. She also accompanied La Chorale Orion, the Spindle City Singers, and the choir of Mary Queen of Peace Parish in Salem, New Hampshire. Music was not simply something she did; it was at the heart of who she was, and she shared that love with everyone fortunate enough to know her.

When she wasn't at the piano, Flo could often be found enjoying a game of bingo, working on crossword puzzles, or playing solitaire. Family members fondly remember that she was always in her rocker and never missed an opportunity to remind everyone, with a smile, that “you’ll get there one day!” Her week was never complete until she had her hair done, a standing appointment she looked forward to and rarely missed.

Flo possessed a wonderfully mischievous sense of humor, a quick wit, and a generous spirit. With her beloved Freddy by her side, they delighted in making others laugh and created a home filled with music, stories, and love.

For 51 summers, Flo and Fred made their seasonal home at Lake Shore Park on Lake Winnipesaukee in Gilford, New Hampshire. Those summers became the backdrop for countless family gatherings, friendships, celebrations, and memories. She always looked forward to cousins Dave and Carl playing at the pavilion every year, where she shared her talent with her LSP family, always finishing it off with her rendition of “New York, New York!”

Among her happiest memories were the many trips she and Fred took to Ireland, where sing-alongs were always on the itinerary and treasured memories were made with family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents, George and Delia Ayotte; her siblings, George, Normand, Rene and Simone Quinn; and her many in-laws and friends who welcomed her with open arms throughout her life.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Linda Thompson and her husband, Bob Forrestall, Kathleen Madden and her husband, Kevin Madden, and Gail Sheehy and her partner Gary Howe. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Stephen Thompson Jr., Brian Thompson and his wife, Sarah Hagler, Andrea Forrestall and her fiancé, Adam Marrocco, and Erin Madden and her partner, Gavyn Tower.

She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Patricia Sheehy, Lucille Ayotte and Maureen Ayotte, who faithfully served as Flo’s personal chauffeur for those weekly hair appointments. Your kindness and companionship meant so much to her. Flo also leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with many longtime friends. Flo was blessed with dear friendships that enriched her life. She especially looked forward to her weekly breakfasts at M.L. Shaw’s with her treasured friends, Linda and Mike Brunelle. The family wishes to extend its heartfelt gratitude to them for the love, companionship, and attention they provided to her. Their friendship brought comfort, joy, and laughter to Flo especially during her final days.

The family also extends its sincere gratitude to the staff of High Pointe Hospice House for the compassionate care, comfort, and dignity they provided during the last couple of weeks.

Flo will be remembered for the music she shared, the laughter she inspired, her generous heart, her sharp sense of humor, and the unconditional love she gave so freely.

Relatives and friends are invited to Flo’s Life Celebration on Sunday, October 18, 2026 from 2 until 5 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell. Her funeral service will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM in the funeral home. Burial to follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In keeping with Flo's love of music, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to WJIB Radio, P.O. Box 1849, Framingham, MA 01701. Listening to WJIB was part of her daily routine, and hardly a day passed without hearing her ask, "Alexa, please play WJIB." It was one of life's simple pleasures that brought her so much joy.
