LOWELL - Eugene R. Soulard, 91, a resident of Lowell, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Carleton-Willard Village in Bedford surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Eileen A. (McInerney) Soulard.
Born in Lowell on May 11, 1925, he was a son of the late Francis A. and Emma F. (Rousseau) Soulard.
Eugene was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School and Fitchburg State College.
He served with the United States Marines during World War II receiving an Honorable Discharge on May 17, 1946.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Soulard was employed by the Raytheon Corp. in South Lowell as an engineer. Following his retirement he enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States and Canada with Elderhostel.
He was an active member of the Lowell Senior Center where he enjoyed socializing and playing a variety of card games.
For many years, he and his family spent their summers at Cobbett's Pond in Windham, NH where he was a member of the Pine Terrace Association.
Eugene is survived by two children and their spouses, David A. and Leanne (Squeglia) Soulard of Providence, RI and Monica A. and William Brown of Burlington, MA; two grandchildren, Liam and Ryan Brown of Burlington, MA; one brother, Robert Soulard and his wife Lucille of Orlando, FL; two sisters-in-law, Maureen McInerney of Lowell, MA and Joanna McInerney of Harwich, MA; and many nieces and nephews. Eugene was also brother to Raymond Soulard and Theresa (Soulard) Poirier.
