Eugene G. "Sluggo" Musial, Sr.

Eugene G. “Sluggo” Musial, Sr., age 81, a lifelong resident of Lowell died Wednesday, March 22, 2023.  He was the beloved husband of the late MaryAnn (Sullivan) Musial, to whom he was married for 50 years prior to her death in 2019.  

He was born in Lowell on November 18, 1941, and was a son of the late Eugene S. and Cecile (Rondeau) Musial.  He received his education in Lowell schools and was a graduate of St. Joseph High School where he excelled in basketball and was inducted into the St Joseph High School Sports Hall of Fame.  He also enjoyed playing baseball, softball, darts and bowling throughout his life.  

Sluggo was self gifted self employed carpenter throughout his life.  

He was a longtime member of Club Passe-Temps and the Dom Polski Club, both in Lowell.  

Sluggo is survived by his son, Eugene “Gene” Musial, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Lowell; two daughters, Debby Gilman and Renee Masse and her husband Keith, all of Lowell; twelve grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; a brother, Roland “Bucky” Musial and his wife Carol of Milford, NH; a sister, Elizabeth “Betty Ann” Falardeau of Dracut; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also the father of the late Cherie Tanguay, the father-in-law of the late Dave Gilman, grandfather of the late Kenneth Tanguay and Kristen Musial and brother-in-law of the late Frank Falardeau. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Sluggo’s Life Celebration at the MCKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Tuesday from 10:00am until 12:00pm followed by his Funeral Service at 12:00pm at the funeral home.  Burial in Westlawn II Cemetery in Lowell.
