Esther M. Prud'homme

Esther M. (Watson) Prud’homme, age 92, died on Saturday, May 31, 2025 surrounded by family at Lowell General Hospital Saints Campus. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Prud’homme, with whom she shared 69 years of marriage, until his passing in April.

Born in Lowell on March 2, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Esther (Aunchman) and James C. Watson. She was raised and educated in Lowell and graduated from Lowell High School, Class of 1951. She worked for St. John Hospital and later at Riverside Press, all while raising and putting her family first.

She was a parishioner of St. Louis Church and later a parishioner of Ste. Marguerite d’Youville, where she was actively involved in church activities, including the choir and her favorite game, bingo.

Esther, affectionately known as “Grammy” to most, was always quick with a witty remark, loved to knit for numerous charities and always had a card to give. Whether it was a birthday, anniversary, graduation, you name it, she had a card for the occasion.

Esther is survived by her five children, Michael Prud’homme and his wife, Denise of Hudson, NH, Steven Prud’homme and his wife, Claire of Salem, NH, Linda Nadeau and her husband, Richard “Chet” of Dracut, June Rapp and her husband, George of Lowell, Karyn Force of Maynard; her eight grandchildren, Holly and her husband, Eric, Casey and her husband, Greg, Michael, Brian and his wife, Jen, Adam and his wife, Julie, Jason, Justen and Treven; her eight great-grandchildren, Nathan, Lily, Latham, Melody, Tessa, Evan, Nicole and Eric; her sister, Geraldine Metzler; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late William Watson, James Watson, Daniel Watson and Duncan Watson and the great-grandmother of the late Landon Prud’homme.

Relatives and friends are invited to Esther’s Funeral Mass on Friday, June 6, 2025 at 11 AM in STE. MARGUERITE d’YOUVILLE CHURCH, 1340 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Esther’s memory to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Inc., WEB PO Box 7410354, Chicago, IL 60674-0354.
