Ernest C. Vaillancourt, 81, a longtime resident of the Highlands section of Lowell, husband of the late Lorraine C. (Corcoran) Vaillancourt, died Tuesday June 20, 2006 in a local nursing home.
He was born in Lowell on July 23, 1924, a son of the late Raymond J. and Lydia (Blais) Vaillancourt.
Mr. Vaillancourt served with the United States Army during WWII.
Mr. Vaillancourt was a graduate of Lowell High School and the Lowell Commercial College.
Prior to his retirement, Mr Vaillancourt worked as an audit supervisor at Fort Devens for over 25 years.
He was a communicant of St. Margaret Church in Lowell. Mr. Valliancourt was a member of the VFW Walker Rogers Post 662, Chelmsford Lodge of Elks and the Lafayette Club.
Surviving Mr. Vaillancourt are five sons; Daniel R. Vaillancourt of Chelmsford, David E. Vaillancourt and his wife Nancy (Hambleton) of Tyngsboro, Normand A. Vaillancourt of Lowell, Thomas A.Vaillancourt and his wife Dorene (Walsh) of Salisbury and Marc J. Vaillancourt of Danvers; a daughter Diane L. Fenn and her husband Robert of Dunstable; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Bergeron and her husband Jarrett, Amy Vaillancourt, Chelsey Fenn, Matthew Fenn, Jacob Vaillancourt, Thomas A. Vaillancourt Jr., Lorry Vaillancourt; a great-grandson Kaden Bergeron; many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Albert Vaillancourt, Alda Beland, Cecile Ducharme, "Bucky" Vaillancourt and Mildred Bisson.
