Obituary
LOWELL - Ernest V. Morneau, 93, a Lowell resident, died Friday, September 15, 2006 in a local nursing home. He was the husband of the late Gertrude (Brouillette) Morneau.
Born in Haverhill, MA, on April 17, 1913, he was a son of the late Victor and Marie Louise (Gosselin) Morneau.
Prior to his retirement, he worked as a heel shaver at Arlington Shoe in Lawrence. He was previously employed as a machinist for Synthetic Yarns of Lowell. He also worked part time for many years as a custodian at the former St. Joseph's Hospital in Lowell.
Mr. Morneau was a member of the Dracut Senior Citizens Club, the Centralville Senior Citizens Club, St. Rita's Parish Senior Citizens Club, the East End Club and the Salvation Army Club - "SAGE". He was a communicant of St. Rita Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. He was an avid fisherman and loved to play cribbage.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Jacqueline and Alfred Thibodeau of Ormond Beach, FL and Joanne and Paul Bastien of Lowell; a son, Charles Morneau of Nashua, NH; two daughters, Elizabeth Gosselin of Nashua, NH and Patricia Wood of Townsend; a sister, Doris Watkins of Derry, NH; 13 grandchildren among whom are Rev. Paul Bastien and his wife Laurie of Lewiston, ME, Renee Pape and her husband Eric of Tyngsboro, Eric Thibodeau of Gardner, Vicki Gordon and her husband Brian of Winchester, NH, Jason Bastien of Melbourne, Australia, Kenneth Gosselin and his wife Jacqueline of Manchester, NH, Marc Gosselin and his wife Cheryl of Dracut, James Gosselin and his wife Linda of Des Moines, IA, and David Gosselin of Londonderry, NH, Dawn Rhodes and her husband Steven of Fort Mill, SC and Lynda Beaulieu of Townsend; 21 great grandchildren among whom are Alexander, Stephen, Madison and Ryan Pape, Jenny and Emily Gordon, Jenna and Matthew Bastien, Marc and John Gosselin. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Celeste E. Morneau and brother of the late Reinette (Morneau) Pare and Lionel Morneau.
