Ft. Lauderdale, FL - Elizabeth Andrea (Callahan) Silva, age 79 of Fort Lauderdale, FL passed away December 7, 2021, after a brief illness. Born in Lowell, MA, she was the daughter of the late George W. Callahan and Lillian M. (Murphy) Callahan.
Elizabeth grew up in Dracut, MA, and graduated early from Dracut Public Schools in 1958. Elizabeth went on to study Education at Lowell State Teacher's College and graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. She went on to teach elementary education in the Greenmont Avenue School in Dracut.
After her retirement from teaching, Elizabeth moved to Pompano Beach in Florida and teamed up with her daughter Kelly to work in her restaurant called The Silva Lining. Additionally, in her retirement, Elizabeth held other jobs that interested her including Real Estate Agent and working for Celebrity Cruise Lines and Airborne Express.
Elizabeth loved her family and friends, walking including at Salisbury State Park and anywhere she could get friends to walk, her MWF Group exercise classes, gardening, reading in the sand under the shade of palm trees, and following politics among many other interests. As a former realtor she also loved to pop in to open houses.
She is survived by her sons Anthony Silva of Ft Lauderdale, FL and Joseph Silva of Mpls, sisters Margaret Rose of Derry, NH, and Roberta Golden of Windham, NH, Sister-in-law Judith Callahan of Hudson, MN, several nieces and nephews and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Elizabeth was predeceased in death by her parents, daughters Robin E. Silva and Kelly E. Silva, husband Edward J. Silva, brothers Martin Callahan and Laurence Callahan, sisters Cynthia Langton and Martha Callahan, brothers-in-law Joseph Langton, John Golden, and Richard Rose.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Elizabeth's Life Celebration at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell, on Thursday, January 20, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. followed by her Funeral Service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
