Elizabeth J. “Sis” (Munnis) Pelland, age 87, died peacefully on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Loris Rehab & Nursing Center in South Carolina. She was the widow of the late Maurice L. Pelland, with whom she enjoyed 56 years of marriage until his death in 2012.
She was born in Reading on April 18, 1936 and was a daughter of the late Edith E. (Watson) and Eldridge F. Munnis.
After raising her family in Lowell, Elizabeth resided in Florida for many adventure-filled years until her husband’s passing. Most recently, she resided in South Carolina with her daughter, Deb and son-in-law, Steve, who graciously opened their home and lovingly cared for her during her twilight years.
Elizabeth was a kind and gentle soul who had a profound love for her family and friends. She cherished time together in quiet conversation or orchestrating fun family gatherings. She was filled with compassion, generosity and an open heart and mind. Her love and guidance were unconditional and treasured. Hers is truly the epitome of a life well-lived.
She enjoyed dining out and shopping, while taking real delight in the occasional ice cream treat and her sense of style was ever-present in her fashion and interior design choices. She especially liked her trips to Plainridge Park Casino, where she was happiest playing her “Lucky Larry’s Lobstermania” slot machine.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children and their spouses, Dennis Pelland and his wife Nga of Port Orange, FL, Denise Pelland and her husband Michael McDonald of Dracut and Debra Moreau and her husband Stephen of Little River, SC; her grandchildren, Dennis, Kayla, Audrey and Owen; her great-grandchildren, Eli and Olivia; her sister, Patricia Finnerty of Hudson, NH; her brother-in-law, Roger Pelland and his wife Claire of Nashua, NH; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth was the sister of the late Edward Munnis, Jack Munnis and grandmother to her beloved Hayden Moreau.
Relatives and friends are invited to Elizabeth’s Life Celebration on Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell.
