Elizabeth A. (Rafferty) Nutter, 89, of Dracut, died Tuesday March 8, 2011 at a local nursing facility. She was the wife of the late Robert F. Nutter.
Born in Dracut on September 19, 1921, she was a daughter of the late John W. and Elizabeth C. (Fleming) Rafferty.
During World War II, Betty served with the Waves in the United States Navy.
She was a communicant of St. Michael Church.
Survivors include ten children, Robert F. Nutter, Jr. and his wife Chinwe of Princeton, NJ, Michael D. Nutter and his wife, Susan of Haverhill, James P. Nutter and his wife, Eileen of Dracut, John M. Nutter and his wife, Ellen of Trumbull, CT, Peter P. Nutter and his wife Kristine of Dracut, Elizabeth A. Shelley of Severna Park, MD, Margaret M. Cowburn and her husband, Scott of Pittsburg, PA, Carol A. Goswick and her husband, Jeff of Clayton, NC, Josephine A. Gorman and her husband, Frank of Derry, NH, Theresa M. Seip and her husband, Joseph of West Newbury; two brothers, John W. Rafferty and his wife, Anne of Topsfield, Thomas F. Rafferty of MN; a sister-in-law, Julia Theresa Nutter of Lowell; her dear friend, Rita Perreault of Lowell; her home care aide, Judy Koziol, who has taken excellent care of her over the past several years; twenty-eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Francis G. Nutter and sister of the late Anna Cawley, Francis Conway, William Conway, Henry Conway, Gertrude King and Alice Dildine.
