Eleanor (Mahoney) Harrington, a lifelong Lowell resident, who was a former schoolteacher in Wilmington and Lowell died on Saturday September 13, 2014. She was the beloved wife of William C. Harrington of Lowell, with whom she was married for 54 years.
Eleanor was born in Lowell, a daughter of the late Allan T. and Mary Edna (Dery) Mahoney. She graduated from St. Michael's Grammar School and Keith Hall in Lowell and was a graduate of Emanuel College in Boston.
Mrs. Harrington was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Lowell.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughters and two sons; William J. Harrington and his partner, John Hutlin of New York City; Kathleen Leistikow and her husband, Dean of Scotch Plains, NJ; Mary Ellen Harrington, Diane Fokas and her husband Michael, Richard A. Harrington, and Sheila Harrington and her husband, Jon Ledoux all of Lowell. Her eight grandchildren; Anna H., Elsa H., and Thomas H. Leistikow of Scotch Plains, NJ, Ana M. and William M. Fokas of Lowell and Benjamin H., Cody H. and Abbie H. Ledoux of Lowell; Her sister, Mary (Mahoney) Pepin and her husband, Paul of Tewksbury; Her brother, Allan G. Mahoney and his wife, Pauline (Webb) Mahoney of E. Hampstead, NH. She is also survived by her in-laws, Jeremiah Harrington of North Andover; Al and Ann (Harrington) Carabis of Lowell; Lola (Constantineau) Harrington of Maine; many nieces, nephews grand nieces and grand nephews.
