Elaine M. (McArthur) Keefe

Elaine M. (McArthur) Keefe, 83, of Dracut, MA and Naples, Florida, died Saturday October 11, 2014, at Fairhaven Health Care Center in Lowell with her loving family at her side. She was the beloved wife of William F. "Bill" Keefe of Dracut, MA and Naples, FL with whom she was married for fifty seven years.
Born in Lowell on August 18, 1931, she was a daughter of the late John M. and Viola G. (Flynn) McArthur.
Elaine was a graduate of St. Joseph School of Nursing in Lowell. She began her career as a Registered Nurse in the Lowell community. For more than nineteen years she was a school nurse in Dracut having worked in the Greenmont Avenue, Campbell and Parker Avenue schools.
For more than forty years, Elaine participated in many clinical studies, through Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School researching pulmonary conditions and breast cancer, in order to facilitate medical advancement. She was the founder and past president of the Dracut School Nursing Association.
Some of her fondest memories were made while enjoying the beaches of Seabrook, NH and Lowdermilk Park in Naples, FL. Elaine was a proud New York Yankees and New England Patriots fan. She was also an avid Mahjong player.
In addition to her husband, Elaine is survived by her children Susan R. Keefe of Dracut, William F. Keefe, Jr. and his wife, Cheryl-Anne of Attleboro, MA, Brian J. Keefe and his wife, Paula of Westford, MA; her grandchildren, Adam and Hannah Keefe of Westford; a brother, James McArthur of Gilford, NH; a sister, Ann Russell of Manchester, NH; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Cynthia McArthur of Reading, MA, Raymond Keefe and his wife, Maureen of Lowell, MA, Robert Keefe and his wife, Winifred of York Beach, ME, Rosemary McMahon of Lowell, MA, Francis X. Keefe of Tyngsboro, MA, Cynthia Keefe of Lowell, MA; many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Peter McArthur, Joan Gettings and John McArthur.
