Taunton, MA - Elaine Garvin, 59, a resident of Taunton, MA, died Monday, June 21, 2004, at the New England Medical Center, Boston, MA of a heart attack.
She was born in Syracuse, NY of February 10, 1045 a daughter of the late Francis P. and Ruth E. (Betzenderfer) Garvin.
Originally from Syracuse, NY, she graduated from West Genesee High School in 1963. Ms. Garvin was an accomplished children's book illustrator with more than 30 titles to her credit and her own world of Gooseberry Hollow. She was a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and the Graphic Artists Guild. She is survived by her son, John Baldwin of Lowell, MA; her brother, Jack Garvin of San Antonio, TX; two granddaughters; three nephews; one niece; and her cat Missy.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2004 at the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell, MA between the hours of 12PM and 2 PM.
