Eileen was a parishioner of St. Michael Church in Lowell and was a member of the Legion of Mary, the Holy Rosary Sodality and the Sons of Italy. She was a recruiter for the Miraculous Medal Association.

Among her interests, Eileen enjoyed her weekly card games wit her friends, watching sporting events and scenic rides in the country, but nothing was more important to her that being with her family. Eileen loved family gatherings, especially during the holidays and she loved spending lazy summer days at her daughter Lee's pool. She was a devoted mother who enjoyed doing as much as she could for her children and their children as well.

Eileen is survived by her son Robert Desmond and his companion Ginny Sczerba of Palm Harbor, FL and her daughter Patricia (Desmond) Garnhum and her husband Robert Garnhum of Tyngsboro, her five grandchildren, Jennifer (Desmond) Moynihan and her husband John Moynihan of Tewksbury, Robert Desmond, Jr. of Londonderry, NH, Kelly (Garnhum) Yonaker of Dracut, Kevin Garnhum and his wife Lenore of Haverhill, Ryan Desmond and his wife Lori of Templeton. Eileen also leaves two devoted nephews; Dennis Canney and John Canney, and two nieces; Jackie Leonard and Bobbie Marks.

Eileen was predeceased by her daughter Eileen "Lee" (Desmond) Kupstas, her sisters Eleanor Grosse and Hazel Canney and her brothers Victor Grosse and George Grosse.

Eileen's family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the entire nursing staff on Wannalancit Lane at D'Youville Senior Care for the kindness and compassion they showered upon Eileen as well as the outstanding care they provided.

A special thanks is extended to granddaughters Jennifer (Desmond) Moynihan and Kelly (Garnhum) Yonaker for their dedication to their grandmother's well being and also thanks to her loyal son-in-law Bob Garnhum for his daily visits to Eileen that truly brightened her day.
