Edward J. Tynan

January 28, 1947 — August 26, 2013

DRACUT – Edward J. Tynan, 66, a resident of Dracut, died Monday, August 26, 2013 at the Lowell General Hospital, Saints Campus with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Alice (Botelho) Tynan with whom he was married for 42 years.
Born in Billerica on January 28, 1947, he was a son of the late Francis and Edith (Thomas) Tynan.
Mr. Tynan was a graduate of Billerica High School, Class of 1966. Upon his graduation, Edward enlisted with the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam War receiving the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Navy Unit Commendation Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Purple Heart Award.
Following his Military Service he received electrical training and was employed as an apprentice electrician. He went on to work for Wang Labs in Methuen for a number of years and retired from the First Security Company where he provided security at the Hewlett Packard Company in Andover.
Mr. Tynan was the Quartermaster and Senior Vice Commander of the Billerica VFW, Pinehurst, William F. Eggo Post 2597. One of his favorite pastimes was fishing with his family and friends. One of his hobbies was using and fixing computers and he also enjoyed teaching his grandchildren how to use them.
He will be missed by his many relatives and friends. It was said that he would give you the "shirt off his back" and his kindness touched many.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Jennie R. Tynan and her partner Brooke Conard and Marcia L. Tynan and her partner Thomas Dillon, all of Dracut; his son, Brian Marcoux of Dracut and his partner Danielle Strobel of Lowell; six grandchildren, Candace M. Tynan, Mary L. Craig, Morgan M. Marcoux, Devon J. Marcoux, Melanie Lincoln and William Furman; a sister, Judith Peirce of Derry, NH; a sister-in-law, Helen "Tootsie" Tynan of Port Charlotte, FL; also several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Charles Tynan.
