LOWELL - Edward J. Savard, Sr., 83, a resident of the Highlands section of Lowell, passed away following a period of declining health on Monday, January 16, 2017, at his home with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Lowell on February 26, 1933, the son of the late Helen (Cronin) Cuipa.
Mr. Savard attended Lowell Schools and was a graduate of Keith Academy.
He served with the United States Navy during the Korean War until his Honorable Discharge on December 14, 1953.
Prior to his retirement, Ed was employed for over 35 years by Sullivan Brothers Printers of Lowell as a pressman.
For many years he enjoyed spending summers with his family at the summer cottage at Cobbett's Pond in Windham, NH, and was a member of Pine Terrace Association.
He enjoyed cooking, gardening and country dancing.
Mr. Savard was a long time parishioner of St. Margaret Church.
He was also a member of the East End Club.
He leaves five children, Edward J. Savard, Jr. and his companion Kim Selsor, of Pelham, NH; Steven Savard of Germany, Michael Savard, Ret. Master Sergeant US Air Force, of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Paula Jones and her husband Don and Sandra Valo and her husband Mike, all of Windham, NH; three grandchildren, Michelle Glassman and her husband Evan, Chante' Jones and Bradley Valo; a sister, Anita Racy of Lowell; a niece, Andrea Mills and her husband Rick of Salem, NH; his companion of many years, Dorothy Hibbert of Lowell. He also leaves his former wife, Theresa (Robarge) Savard of Hudson, NH.
