DRACUT - Edward R. Orlando, age 85, a resident of Dracut and former resident of the Pawtucketville section of Lowell died Friday, July 30, 2021 at D'Youville Senior Care in Lowell. He was the beloved husband of the late Aline T. (Bibeault) Orlando who died in 1997 and the late Alice (Derderian) Greene who died in 2020.
He was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 11, 1936, and was a son of the late Vincenzo and Josephine (Samperi) Orlando. He received his education in Brooklyn schools and was a graduate of New York School of Printing.
Edward proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He served aboard the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Roosevelt and the Cruiser U.S.S Columbus as a Signalman.
Prior to his retirement, Edward was employed for many years as a printer by AVCO Wilmington Publications in Wilmington and Flagship Press in North Andover. After retirement he worked part time at O'Connor Hardware in Billerica.
When his children were younger, he was very active with the Pawtucketville Youth Organization Baseball.
Edward was an avid bowler at the Brunswick Lanes in Lowell for over 20 years with his wife Alice and enjoyed visiting the many local casinos with her.
His greatest joy was spending time in the company of his loving family, especially his adoring grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Edward is survived by his three children, Gregg Orlando and his wife Lori, Scott Orlando and his wife Kelly, and Doreen Burgess and her partner William Wood; 3 step children, Gregory Greene, Arthur Greene and Gail Powderly and her husband James; six grandchildren, Christopher Orlando, Ryan Orlando, Kaelyn Or-lando, Eric Burgess and fiancée Chantal Desjardins, Karyn Burgess, and Sarah Lally and her husband Michael; three great grandchildren, Paityn and Emersyn Lally, and Parker Burgess; Kevin Burgess, son in law; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Joseph Orlando.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Edward's Life Celebration at the MCKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Tuesday, August 3rd from 4:00 until 8:00 pm. His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edward's name to the Gary Sinise Foundation, PO Box 368, Woodland Hills, CA 91365.
