Edward L. Randall OMI

Rev. Edward L. Randall, OMI, 87, was born on April 10, 1922 in Lowell, MA, the son of the late George and Margaret (Linnehan) Randall.
Fr. Randall entered the Tewksbury, MA novitiate of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate on September 7, 1943. He professed his first vows on September 8, 1944. His priestly Ordination took place in Washington, DC on May 29, 1950 with Bishop Arsene Turquetil, OMI presiding. Fr. Randall's first assignment was as chaplain at St. Vincent's Hospital in Toledo, OH followed by four years as assistant at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Grand Rapids, MI. The next 54 years were devoted to parish ministry: Sacred Heart, Lowell, MA 1954-61; St. Jude, Sumter, SC 1961-68; St. Bridget, Indianapolis, IN 1968-69; Holy Family, Petersburg, VA 1969-70; St. Joseph's, Washington, GA 1970-80; and finally St. George's and Holy Angels in Jenkins, KY 1980-2008. In 2008, Fr. Randall retired, becoming a member of the community at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Residence and Infirmary in Tewksbury, MA.
While ministering in Lowell, Fr. Randall was quite active, forming the Sacred Heart Band and organizing a camp for youth. While at St. George's Parish, Fr. Randall brought Mother Teresa's Missionary Sisters of Charity to serve in Jenkins. At the personal request of Mother Teresa, Fr. Ed also traveled to Albania to preach a retreat for her nuns. He was dearly loved by all he served and was well known for his artistic talent.
Fr. Randall is survived by three sisters, Sr. Miriam Randall, SND of Pecos, NM; Sr. Frances Randall, SND of Manchester, CT; Margaret Madden of West Palm Beach, FL and one brother and sister-in-law, William and Gail Randall of Atascadero, CA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, David Randall, Bro. Kenny Randall, CFX and Fr. Timothy Randall, a Lasalette priest.
