No. Reading - Rev. Edward T. Kelley, a resident of North Reading, died Wednesday August 10, 2011 at a local healthcare facility following a period of declining health. He was 68.
Born in Lowell on September 22, 1942, Rev. Kelley was a son of the late Edward L.V. and Helen M. (Nerney) Kelley.
He grew up in the Centralville section of Lowell, attended Lowell schools and St. Michael Church.
Rev. Kelley was a 1963 graduate of Boston College with a Liberal Arts degree. He then entered St. John’s Seminary in Brighton and was ordained a Catholic Priest in the Cathedral of the Holy Cross on May 29, 1968 by Richard Cardinal Cushing.
Rev. Kelley served as a priest throughout the Archdiocese of Boston until ill health forced his retirement on December 1, 2001.
Survivors include a brother and sister in law, Stephen L. and Elizabeth M. (Pendleton) Kelley of Billerica; a nephew James Kelley and his wife Kelly of Phoenix, AZ; a niece Meg Kelley of Billerica; also numerous cousins. He was also the brother of the late 1st Lt. Richard J. Kelley USMC, who died in the Vietnam War.
