Edward (Eddie) Potvin ...  Korean War Army Vereran

Lowell – Eddie Potvin 93 years old passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Cecile (Leboeuf) Potvin, to whom he was married to for 63 years. Prior to his retirement, Eddie was employed by Vulkor Inc, formerly GE, for over 23 years. He was an honorably discharged veteran, and served in the Army during the Korean War.

He was born in Lowell on August 15th, 1931, son of the late William and Florida Potvin and resided in the City’s Centralville section. He cherished the time he spent with his loving family, making bird houses, and the occasional trips to Foxwoods Casino. In his younger years he had a passion for racing stock cars and won numerous races.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter Susan Santana and her husband Angel of Pelham, NH. He also leaves three grandchildren, Katelyn Hugill and her husband Rob of Chester NH, Michael Baraby of Melrose, MA, Edward Boiko of Derry NH, as well as two great-granddaughters, Olivia and Navy. 

He was predeceased by his daughter Brenda Potvin of Dracut, sister Florida Ablacinski, brothers Wilfred Potvin, and William Potvin, and Henry Potvin of Lowell, MA.

“The moment you died our hearts split in two; one side with memories, the other side dies with you. We will lay awake at night when the world is fast asleep and take a walk down memory lane with tears upon our cheeks. Remembering you is easy, we will do it everyday…. But missing you is a heartache that will never go away. We will hold you tightly within our hearts and there you will remain….. Life will go on without you but will never ever be the same.

It being his request, there will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass to be celebrated on Friday, October 18th at 12:30 PM at Ste. Marguerite D’Youville Church, 1340 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. Donations in Eddie’s memory may be made to Lowell General Hospital, 295 Varnum Avenue, Lowell, MA 01854.
