Edward “Eddie” Lewis Broome, Jr, age 80, of Clearwater, Florida, formerly of Lowell, Massachusetts for over 40 years, passed away on November 6, 2025, peacefully surrounded by loved ones. He was the beloved husband of his late cherished wife, Margaret “Peggy” (Espinola) Broome, the love of his life.
Eddie was born on October 25, 1945, in Boston, Massachusetts, the oldest of eleven siblings, to parents Elizabeth (Devlin) and Edward Broome, Sr. He was educated in Boston Catholic Schools and was a graduate of Gate of Heaven High School in South Boston.
A kind-hearted, simple and loving man with an infectious smile, Eddie brought joy wherever he went. He loved to have a good time and was deeply devoted to his family, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter and faith.Eddie was a proud Catholic Irishman who attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lowell, Massachusetts and later Light of Christ in Clearwater, Florida. His faith guided his life and brought him strength and peace.
He is survived by his daughter, Danna M. Vasquez of FL; his two grandchildren, Darron C. Vasquez and Justina M. Vasquez; his six siblings; as well as many other beloved relatives and friends. Eddie is also lovingly remembered by his two faithful pups, Morty and Scruffy, who were constant companions.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to all who loved Eddie and to the nurses and caregivers who provided compassionate care during his final journey. They also give thanks to God, who blessed them with this amazing man whose memory will forever be cherished.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Eddie’s Life Celebration at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 4 until 7 PM. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 AM in Holy Trinity Polish Church, Lowell. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests prayers, Mass dedications in Eddie’s memory or donations to a charity of your choice. May he rest in peace with our Heavenly Father.
