Edith F. Tessier

Edith Frances (McDermott) Tessier, age 96, died Saturday, August 8, 2026 at D’Youville Senior Care, with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold V. Tessier.

She was born in Lowell on December 7, 1929 and was the daughter of the late Rose (O’Brien) and James McDermott. She graduated high school from St. Gregory’s in Dorchester.

Edith was a devoted Catholic and a parishioner at St. Rita’s Parish in Lowell.

She focused much of her life on being family-oriented, nurturing and taking care of her home and family.

Edith is survived by her children, William Tessier and his wife, Maria of Pepperell, David Tessier and his wife, Ellen of Lowell, Marie Tessier of Lowell and Carol Ducharme and her husband, William of Dracut; her five grandchildren, Valerie Holmes and her husband, Sam, Kristin Russo, Adam Tessier and his wife, Caitlyn, Justin Ducharme and his wife, Chelsea and Sara Camacho and her husband, Zach; her ten great-grandchildren, Julia, Vincent, Charlotte, Beau, Jacob, Oliver, Isla, Tate, Maverick and Wyatt; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was the grandmother of the late William J. Tessier, Jr. and the sister of the late James McDermott, Dorothy Falcione, M. Virginia Barbagallo and Ann McDermott.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all of the doctors, nurses and staff at D’Youville Senior Care for the exceptional care, kindness and support shown to Edith during her stay.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Edith’s Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at 10 AM in ST. RITA’s CHURCH, 158 Mammoth Road, Lowell. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edith’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
