DRACUT - Edgar J. Lafortune, Jr., 87, a Dracut resident, passed away on Tuesday evening, March 28, 2017 at a local healthcare facility. He was the beloved husband of the late Lorraine P. (Proteau) Lafortune.
Born in Lowell, on January 16, 1930, he was a son of the late Edgar J. Lafortune, Sr. and Aldea (Ducharme) Lafortune.
Mr. Lafortune served with the United States Army in Korea for 18 months with the 3rd Division during the Korean War and received the Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge.
He retired from RDC Drilling, and had previously worked as an upholsterer for Simmons Company in Methuen.
Mr. Lafortune enjoyed camping for over 30 years at York Beach, ME and playing in the cribbage league at the Dracut American Legion.
He leaves two sons, Ronald E. Lafortune and his wife Carol and Michael R. Lafortune, all of Dracut; a sister, Jeannette Craven of Dracut; 2 sisters-in law, Lillian Bellemare and Loretta Morin, both of Dracut; two grandchildren, Christopher Lafortune and Stacy Becker and her husband Scott; three great grandchildren, Lily Becker, Caden Lafortune and Kenzy Becker; several nieces and nephews.
