Dorothy G. Turcotte...Mother of Five Daughters

Dorothy G. (Chandonnet) Turcotte, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill, MA surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born on April 23, 1936 in Lowell, Massachusetts, the daughter of Louis E. Chandonnet and Bertha (Gagnon) Chandonnet. She was the wife of Rene J. Turcotte who survives her, for over 65 years. Together, they raised their family of five daughters in the Pawtucketville section of Lowell, MA.

Dorothy was a parishioner of St. Francis Church in Dracut, MA. She was also a former parishioner of now closed Ste. Jeanne d'Arc Church in Lowell, MA. She and her husband were involved as chaperones for the Ste. Jeanne d'Arc CYO. She was also an avid bowler and participated in a women's league at the Bowlero Lane (former Brunswick Lanes) for over 30 years. She was an active member of the d'Youville Ladies' Guild. For many years, she assisted her uncle, Father Herve Gagnon, OMI in administrative work for the support of the Catholic missions in Haiti.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her ever growing family, as she always enjoyed visits by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whether it be at her Lowell home or her Up North house in Gilford, NH.

She is survived by her four daughters: Renee Plummer and her husband, Don; Gloria Donahue; Karen Dinter and her husband, Heinz; and Christine Robinson and her husband, Kris; and son-in-law Kevin McDermott. She is predeceased by her daughter Elaine Sweeney, son-in-law Andrew Donahue and sister Constance Cote. She is also survived by her 15 very special grandchildren: Meagan Guenther, Bradley and Todd Plummer; Andrew, Matthew and Sean Donahue, Brooke Lovaasen; Beth Hogan, Bridgette Brown, Lindsay McDermott, Ashley Heiser; Heinz Dinter III and Paige Dinter; Wesley and Molly Robinson.

She was also blessed with 14 great-grandchildren, Grae and Marley Guenther, Halston Plummer, Braden Donahue, Maddox, Margot and Darcey Donahue, Landon Donahue, Graham and Drew Lovaasen, Riley and Brady Hogan, Luke and Jackson Brown. She also leaves behind her three siblings: Louis Chandonnet, Jeannine Walker and Gloria St. Laurent. She was the godmother of Paul Gagnon, Louis Cote, Michele Dimartinis, Jeffrey Turcotte and Eric Fitzgerald.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Dorothy's Life Celebration at the MCKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Sunday, November 14th from 2:00 until 6:00pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 15th at 10:00am at St. Francis Church in Dracut. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford. Those who wish, may make memorial donations in Dorothy's memory to the Louis and Marie-Louise Gagnon Memorial Fund, C/O Ste. Jeanne d'Arc School, 68 Dracut St., Lowell, MA 01854. Scholarship funds are used to assist school families experiencing difficulty meeting their tuition payments due to unemployment, unexpected or prolonged illness, or other family crisis.
