Methuen – Dorothy C. (Christie) Malliaros, the beloved wife of the late John G. Malliaros, a Methuen resident, formerly of Dracut, died Sunday January 9, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. She was 79.
Born in Andover on May 18, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Gregory and Rita (Jasonides) Christie.
Dorothy was the Valedictorian of Punchard High School in Andover, Class of 1949. Her commencement oration was on “The Blessings of Life.”
She then excelled at Mt. Ida College, graduating in 1951 with a degree in College Merchandising. Dorothy was a member of the Phi Delta Kappa Society there. She then attended Brown University, School of Merchandising.
Dorothy was a dedicated mother who loved cooking, gardening, and entertaining. She treasured her quiet reading time and enjoyed animals.
Dorothy was an accomplished golfer and member of Vesper Country Club, where she won several awards and even recorded a hole in one.
Survivors include two daughters and a son in law, Joy and Joseph Kamal, Sandra Malliaros all of Methuen; two granddaughters, Callie Joy Kamal and Triestina Christie Kamal; a brother Phillip Christie of Andover; a sister Bess Liponis of Andover; and several nieces and nephews.
