Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother
Dorothy Elaine (Small) Kubit, 96, a resident of Dracut, passed away at her home on Monday, February 10, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph S. Kubit with whom she shared 66 years of marriage.
Born in Lowell on April 30, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Catherine M. (McGovern)(Small) Potter. Dorothy attended Saint Michael Grammar School and was a graduate of Lowell High School, Class of 1945, where she was a Girl Officer.
Dorothy's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with faith, service, and love. A devoted lifelong member of Saint Michael's Parish, she shared her passion for the Catholic faith with the next generation, serving as a religious education teacher and coordinator for 35 years and volunteering at the rectory, school, and church. For over 50 years, her beautiful voice graced the church choir, in which she forged lasting friendships within her Saint Michael's "family." Kind, generous, and unwavering in her faith, Dorothy leaves a legacy of devotion to both her church and community, touching countless lives through her selfless service.
As the beloved matriarch of the Kubit family, Dorothy was a pillar of love and compassion. Her sparkling green Irish eyes, full of kindness and wit, and her unique gift for writing poems that turned family celebrations into cherished memories, will be profoundly missed. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her family.
Dorothy is survived by her five children, James A. Kubit and his wife, Linda of Pelham, NH, Michael V. Kubit and Brian Hazeltine of Boston, Joseph S. Kubit, Jr. and his wife, Jeanne of Dracut, Kathy A. Doughty and her husband, Michael of Lowell, and Brian J.
