Dorothy P. (Durand)(Michaud) Laforme, 68, a resident of Nashua, NH and a former Lowell resident, died peacefully Saturday March 24, 2012 with her loving family at her side, following a three year battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of John A. Laforme, Sr. of Nashua, NH and the late Richard L. Michaud, Sr.
Born in Lowell on December 29, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Romeo Paul and Florence Mary (Barry) Durand.
Dorothy was a very talented pianist. For many years she traveled all over the state sharing the gift of music at various venues such as The Nesmith House in Lowell during the holidays and also at many different nursing facilities in the area.
She was a former communicant of St. Michael Church in Lowell and was currently a parishioner at St. Louis de Gonzague Church in Nashua, NH. She had been a member of the St. Louis prayer group in Lowell for more than thirty years.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Richard L. Michaud, Jr. and his wife, Kelly of Dracut; two daughters, Catherine Michaud-Sweeney and her husband, Edward D. Sweeney, Jr. of Hudson, NH, Susan Ducharme and her husband, Donald of Lowell; her extended family, John A. Laforme, Jr., Cynthia Laforme, Louis Stafford, Leonard Stafford, Cheryl Ann Bovill, Mark Stafford, Karen Ahern and her husband, Rick; her grandchildren, Ian James Michaud, Ashleigh Marie Ducharme, Nicholas Ahern and his wife, Kimberly; a brother, Robert Durand and his wife, Marge of Nashua; a sister, Florence Sargent and her husband, Charles of Derry, NH; several nieces and nephews.
