Dorothy M. (Grimshaw) Bancroft

Dorothy M. (Grimshaw) wife of the late William Bancroft, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 31, 2016, at her Pelham, NH residence.  She was 89.
 
Born in Lowell on June 28, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Catherine (Reilly) Grimshaw.
 
Prior to her retirement, Dorothy was employed at the Registry of Motor Vehicles, Travelers Insurance Company and the City of Lowell, in the Water Department.
 
Dorothy enjoyed reading, knitting and puzzles whether it be crossword or jigsaw.  She enjoyed shopping with her daughters and spending time in her home.  Family was foremost for Dorothy, she cherished her time with them and looked forward to family gatherings, cookouts, holidays and her grandchildren's favorite Friday night Pizza at Nana's.
 
Dorothy is survived by her children, William Bancroft of Lowell, MA, Barbara and Dennis Hoar of Dunstable, MA, Nancy and Wayne Souza of Pelham, NH.  She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Erik Hoar, Katelyn Roy, Mikayla Souza, Samantha Herlihy, Mara Bancroft, Will Bancroft and Christopher Bancroft; and several nieces and nephews.  Dorothy was the mother of the late Thomas Bancroft, and sister of the late James Grimshaw, Francis Grimshaw, Emily McNabb, Esther Dulemba, William, Agnes, Helen and Marion Grimshaw.
