Mrs. Doris A. (Durand) Major, 94, died Sunday morning at D'Youville Senior Care Center.
Born in Lowell, April 14, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Parmelia (Dalphond) Durand.
She was a graduate of St. Louis Grammar School. She retired from Raytheon in 1984 where she worked for many years as an assembler. She also fondly remembered her work at Megowen Educator Food Co. (the Crax), Jampa Dress Shop, and Hathaway Mens' Shirts.
She was a hard-working, generous and caring woman who will always be remembered for her love and devotion to her family, friends, and neighbors. She gave to many charitable causes in Lowell and throughout the Merrimack Valley. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved telling stories about growing up and living in her hometown.
She is survived by her son, John J. Wilson and his wife, Carol C. (Cognac) Wilson; her daughter, Jeanne Wilson; her grandchildren, Ian Wilson and his partner, Kerry Murray; Jessica K. Moore Wilson and her husband, Peter Moore; and Beth Wilson-Lampro and her husband, Erick Lampro; three great-grandchildren, Ryan Wilson, Liam Wilson, and Evelyn Lampro; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandnieces, grandnephews, and dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Hollis M. Major, and her son, Robert Wilson. She was the youngest sister of the late Annette Tobin, Swibert Durand, Leo Durand, George Durand, Alice Dalphond, Cora Analdo, Ora Fascione, Evelyn Pihl, and Raymond Durand.
