Doris (Beauchesne) Gendreau, 78, of Dracut died peacefully, Saturday, November 12, 2022 after a brief illness at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Leo J. Gendreau, with whom she enjoyed over 40 years of marriage until his passing in 2003.
She was born in Lowell on September 10, 1944 and was the daughter of the late Leo and Leonne (Rondeau) Beauchesne.
Doris grew up in Lowell, MA and met the love of her life at the Rialto Bowling Alley in Lowell and didn’t take long for the two of them to marry. She and Leo spent many days candlepin bowling, going to bingo, roller skating, dancing at the local soc-hops and spending time at the casinos. Together they had four children, which she thoroughly enjoyed raising them as a stay at home mom. During her earlier days, you may have recognized her at one of the many local restaurants as your waitress, having worked at the Wallbrook, Waterwheel, Windsor, Lokai and Mary-Jo’s Diner just to name a few. In her spare time, she enjoyed seeing and spoiling her grandchildren.
Doris is survived and will be deeply missed by her four children, Arthur Gendreau and his wife Lauri-Ann of Wilmington, MA, Diane Lawyer and her husband David of Epping, NH, Joanne Martin and her husband David of Dracut and Michael Gendreau and his wife Denise of Pelham, NH; her nine grandchildren, Corey Gendreau and his wife Jordyn, Brianna Gendreau, Tucker, Brock and Roscoe Martin, Michael, Kyle, Jason and Daniel Gendreau; her two sisters, Pauline Gagniere and Rita Brodeur; her brother-in-law, Ronald Morrissette; her two sister-in-laws, Mary Beauchesne and Rita Gendreau; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Doris was predeceased by her sisters, Theresa Archambault, Beatrice Janeczko and Estelle Morrissette; brothers, Donald and Richard Beauchesne; brother-in-laws, Jack Gendreau and Ray Gendreau and sister-in-law, Phyllis Fairweather.
Relatives and friends are invited to Doris’ Life Celebration on Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 4 until 8 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM in St. Francis Church, Dracut. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.
