Donna L. (Carignan) McKinnon, beloved wife of Donald R. McKinnon, a resident of Seabrook, NH died on Friday, April 8, 2016, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston following a brief illness. She was 63.
Born in Lowell on January 6, 1953, a daughter of Charles L. and Theresa G. (Hylan) Carignan of Dracut who survive her.
Donna was a graduate of St. Louis Academy and then attended Middlesex Community College where she received her RN. She then attended the State University of New York, (SUNY) Albany and received her Bachelor of Nursing and started her career as a Registered Nurse.
For Donna caring was natural. She began working in a nursing home at age 14. Donna was a lifelong caretaker.
She worked at the EN Rogers Veterans Administration Hospital in Bedford and then worked at the Tewksbury State Hospital for 21 years prior to her retirement. It was at a Valentine's Day dance where she met Don. They would have celebrated 20 years of marriage this coming July.
Donna was an avid artist working with oil paints. Her family and friends are the lucky recipients of her many works. She enjoyed traveling with Don, and they cherished the cruises as part of that travel. Donna relished the beach and loved to spend her summers at the waters edge. Don taught her to be a sports fan. She would watch the New England Patriots with him every Sunday in the fall. Most of all for Donna, family was everything. She treasured all of her time with them. They describe her as selfless always taking care of them.
Surviving her besides her parents and husband are her daughter, Lisa Miffitt of Hollis, NH; stepchildren, Shelia Ahern of Hampton, NH, Donny McKinnon of Dracut; three grandchildren, David, Caroline, and Billy; sisters and brothers and their spouses, Marianne and Thomas Berube of Dracut, Diane and David Norkiewicz of Dracut, Kathleen and Fred MacNeil of Northbridge, Christine and Jeff Cyr of Dracut, Denise and Carignan of Thornton, NH, Richard Carignan of Rye, NH, Kevin and Betty Carignan of Dracut, David Carignan of Dracut, Timothy and Kim Carignan of Westford; several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. She was also he sister of the late Charles L. Carignan, Jr.
