Donna (Lessard) McGaffigan, a resident of Lowell, died on Tuesday at her Lowell residence from injuries sustained in an accidental house fire at her home. She was 51.
She was born in Lowell on May 18, 1962, a daughter of the late Alfred Lessard and Emilie (Bordeleau) Lessard of Pelham who survives her.
Donna was educated in the Dracut schools and was a graduate of Dracut High School. She was employed as a housekeeper at the time of her death.
Donna enjoyed swimming, and spending time at the beach at local lakes, ponds and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. She liked playing board games with family and friends, especially scrabble. Family was vital to Donna. She looked forward to spending time with them whether it was family gatherings, cookouts or just a phone conversation. Her family and friends describe her as selfless person who was kind with a funny personality. She was giving and caring.
Surviving her besides her mother are two sons, Thomas and Jeffrey McGaffigan, both of Lowell; her siblings and their spouses, Paul Lessard of AR, Roland Lessard of Lowell, Roger and Christine Lessard of Charlotte, NC, Robert and Lisa Lessard of Hudson, NH, Jeanne and Edwin Grigg of Nashua, NH, Mark and Debra Lessard of Lowell, Maureen and Richard Foote of Pelham, NH, Joseph and Elizabeth Lessard of Raymond, NH, Edward and Lissa Lessard of Nashua, NH; her boyfriend Juan Cruz of Lowell; and several nieces and nephews.
