PELHAM, NH - Donald W. Trainor, 83, a longtime resident of Pelham, NH, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017, at the Greystone Farm in Salem, NH. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Beverly M. (Maguire) Trainor, who passed on July 1, 2016.
Born in Lowell on July 14, 1933, he was a son of the late Dominic and Margaret (Bendon) Trainor.
He was a graduate of Lowell High School, Class of 1953. Following High School, Don enlisted with the United States Army serving during the Korean War from 1954 until his Honorable Discharge in 1956.
Upon completion of his service, Don went to work for the Boston & Maine Railroad. In 1961, he was hired by the United States Postal Service where he worked until his retirement, his final position as Postmaster in Newburyport and Haverhill, MA.
He also worked as a bartender at the 88 Restaurant in Nashua, NH and the Coq D'Or Restaurant in Dracut.
He leaves a daughter and her spouse, Pamela A. (Trainor) and John Fitzgerald of Dracut; two sons and their spouses, David W. and Ann (Fraser) Trainor of Dracut and Michael F. and Bobbie-Jo (Livingston) Trainor of Pelham, NH; eight grandchildren, Michaela, Shelagh and Jack Fitzgerald, Kelly and David Trainor, Jr., Zachary, Ashley, and Alexandra Lyons; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jacqueline (Maguire) and Dennis Sumner and their family; a nephew and nieces, Michael Burnett, Leigh Ann (Burnett) Benson and Trish Burnett, and their families; dear friends, George, Bobby and Joe. He was predeceased by his siblings, Edward F. Trainor and Margaret Burnett.
