DRACUT - Donald L. Richards, 82, a resident of Dracut, died Saturday, August 18, 2007 at the Lowell General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Theresa M. (Guillemette) Richards with whom he was married for 58 years.
Born in Lowell on September 2, 1924, he was a son of the late Edward and Delia (Plourde) Richards.
Mr. Richards attended Lowell Schools. A Veteran of World War II, he enlisted with the United States Navy on December 8, 1941 serving until April 16, 1946. He received the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medal with 6 stars and the World War II Victory Medal.
He was employed as a Car Man for both B & M Railroad and Amtrak prior to his retirement.
An active member of Ste. Marguerite D'Youville Parish, he served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Parish Men's Club and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine M. and John Vickers of Billerica; a son and daughter-in-law, Denis A. and Fran Richards of Merrimack, NH; a brother, Edward Richards and his wife Marie of Natick; two grandsons and their wives, Shawn and Jennifer Richards of West Henrietta, NY and Jamie and Katie Richards of Merrimack, NH; a sister-in-law, Pearl Richards of Lowell; two brothers-in-law, Franny Bettencourt of Lowell and Raymond Guillemette of Rocky Hill, CT; also several nieces and nephews. He was a brother of the late Paul, George and Normand Richards, Sister Alice Richards, Lorraine Richards and Louella Bettencourt.
