Donald F. Miller, a former resident of Burlington and the beloved husband of the late Geraldine (Hennedy) Miller, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024, following a period of declining health.
He was 91.
Born in Gulfport, Mississippi on March 10, 1932, he was a son of the late Benjamin and Anne (Cavanaugh) Miller. He grew up in Lexington, MA with his mother, Anne Miller, his Aunt Mary Cavanaugh, and Grandparents, Thomas and Ann Cavanaugh.
Don was a member of the Marine Corps Reserves from 1952 until 1955.
Don worked for over 30 years as a letter carrier and retired from the United States Postal Service.
He enjoyed being in his hometown chatting with residents as he delivered their mail.
Don and Gerry were married on April 11, 1953, and celebrated 61 years of marriage together. They were communicants of St. Malachy Church in Burlington, where they were active participants in the parish. Don participated in the choir, small faith group, the food kitchen, and prison ministry.
He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, going to the theater and concerts, and baking. He was at peace sailing his O'Day at the Quannapowitt yacht club in Wakefield and on the Charles River with Community Boating, Inc. in Boston. Don had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for spinning good yarns.
Survivors include his two sons; Michael and his wife Sandra Miller of Hampton, NH, Kevin and his wife Christina Miller of Pelham, NH; 15 grandchildren, Renee Thibodeau, Sean Thibodeau, James Thibodeau, Maryanne Thibodeau, Brian Miller, Timothy Miller, Patrick Miller, Thomas Miller, Greg Holt and his wife Aubrey Pervier, Shannon Smith and her husband David, Kasey Miller, Riley Miller, Megan Miller, and Matthew Miller; seven great-grandchildren, Henry, Simone, Amara, Charlie, Melissa, Lincoln, and Soloman; and daughter in law Linda Miller of Nashua, NH.
Don was also the father of the late MaryBeth Thibodeau, Judith Holt, and Mark Miller.
Relatives and friends are invited to Don's Life Celebration in the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home, 327 Hildreth Street from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Saturday. A prayer service will follow at 1:00PM.
Burial will be private.
