Pelham, NH - Donald R.J. Goyette, 63, Beloved husband of Jeannine (Tremblay) Goyette with whom he celebrated 42 years of marriage this past April, died Sunday November 18, at a local nursing home following an extended illness.
He was born in Lowell on November 24, 1943, a son of the late Alfred J. and Annette M. (Motard) Goyette, but had been a resident of Pelham for many years.
Donald was a 1961 graduate of St. Joseph High School and he had attended Lowell Technical Institute from 1968 until 1971.
A veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the Air Force, he had received several service medals including the National Defense Service medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon.
Donald served the City of Lowell working in the Water Works Department for thirty years, where he was recognized as the Employee of the Year in 1999. He retired on August 31, 2003 as the Chief Head Operator.
He held membership in the Lowell VFW Walker Rogers Post 662, the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, Lowell Lodge 87, and avid bird watcher and member of the Audubon Society, an avid hiker and member of the Appalachian Mountain Club. Don also enjoyed his summers at Lake Winnipesauke in Moltonborough, NH.
Surviving him besides his wife are three children, Kevin Goyette and his wife Tracey (Farland) of Nashua, NH, James Goyette, of Pelham, NH, Janet Shivell and her husband JJ of Danville, NH; five grandchildren; a brother and sister in law, Ray Goyette and Kate Pulnik of Dracut; three sisters and two brothers in law, Pauline Bover of Sommerville, Pearl and Harry Petrucci of New haven, CT, Gail and Richard Halligan of Lowell; three brothers in law and sisters in law, Charles and Elaine Giardinella of Merrimack, NH, Denise and Dan Farrell, Diane and Ray Dore all of Weare, NH; and twelve nieces and nephews.
