Lowell - Donald F. "Denny" Quinn, Sr. , affectionatley known as 'Pa", a lifelong Lowell resident and beloved husband of Barbara J. (Upton) Quinn passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023 at  Lowell General Hospital - Saints Campus surrounded by his loving family. He was 88.

 

Born in Lowell on January 15, 1935, he was a son of the late Thomas F. and Florence (Gillick) Quinn. Denny was educated in the Lowell schools graduating from Keith Academy. He served with the United States Army.  Denny worked at Sullivan Brothers Printers for 36 years and later worked and retired from MCI Concord where he served as an industrial instructor.

 

Denny was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Lowell and Life Member of the East End Club. He served  the club in many capacities including as their president and chaplain. Denny helped every year with their Toys for Tots drive and dressed up as Santa for their children’s Christmas parties. He was also awarded the Man of The Year Award for his dedication to the East End Club. Denny looked forward to his time at York Beach with his family and relished playing Bocce, 45's, Oh Darnit, and whiffle ball with his grandchildren. An avid Red Sox fan, Denny also loved to attend his grandchildren's sporting events.

 

Denny was a  devoted husband  to Barbara, with whom he would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this coming November 8th.

 

Surviving Denny besides his wife Barbara, are his children, Patti Doyle and her husband John, Donald F. Quinn, Jr., Barbie Monbleau and her husband Dick, Timothy Quinn and his wife Sonia, Kathy Michaud, Michael Quinn; his grandchildren, Ryan Doyle, Kristen McLeod, Eddie Quinn, Taylor Lucas, Christopher Quinn, Seth Monbleau, John Paul Quinn, Hannah Monbleau, Joseph Quinn, Maggie Quinn, Thomas Michaud, and Harper Quinn; great grandchildren Konnor and Kinleigh Doyle, Ellie and Benjamin Lucas, Emery, Quinn and Brooks McLeod; his brothers and Sisters-in law, Robert and Ivy Quinn, Tucker and Terry Quinn; many nieces, nephews and in laws. He was also the brother of the late Virginia Callahan and her late husband Daniel.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to Denny's Life Celebration at the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home, 327 Hildreth Street from 4 until 7 PM on Thursday. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 AM in the Immaculate Conception Church, 144 East Merrimack Street. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Denny's memory may be made to Camp Paul, 39 Concord Rd, Chelmsford, MA 01824 or to Boston Children's Hospital, 401 Park Dr., Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215.
