Donald P. Dalphond

WINDHAM, NH - Donald P. Dalphond, 85, a resident of Windham, NH and former longtime Dracut resident, died Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at the High Pointe House in Haverhill. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy Y. (Morin) Dalphond, who died in 2008.

He was born in Lowell on May 23, 1932, and was a son of the late Alphonse J. Dalphond and the late Alice (Durand) Dalphond and was the step-son of the late Alice (Lahaie) Dalphond. He received his education in Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School.

Donald served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War.

He began his career at New England Telephone and continued there for 32 years through several telecommunications companies before retiring from Verizon.

Donald was a former member and president of the Board of Directors for the Greater Lowell Visiting Nurse Association, a former member of the Dracut Finance Committee, and a former member of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Lowell.

He loved fishing, especially fly fishing in Grand Lake Stream, ME. He was also an avid reader and enjoyed following politics and learning about history.

Donald was a talented carpenter and woodworker, having built his own home and homes for three of his children.

His family would like to thank the staff in the I.C.U. Department of Lawrence General Hospital, Merrimack Valley Hospice, and the High Pointe House for the care and compassion that they gave to Donald.

He is survived by his two sons, Norman Dalphond of Plaistow, NH and Daniel Dalphond of Atkinson, NH; his two daughters, Lisa Sternberg and her husband Kip and Susan Jasmin and her husband David, all of Methuen; twelve grandchildren, Brittany Dalphond Belley and her husband Tim Belley of Merrimack, MA, Chelsea Lapeikis and her husband Michael of Salt Lake City, Utah, Tierney Dalphond and her fiancé Tom Bois of Methuen, Troy Dalphond of Methuen, Nicole Sternberg of Andover, Julie Sternberg of Boston, Sarah Jasmin of Methuen, Joseph Jasmin of Lowell, Katie Jasmin of Methuen, and Corey Dalphond, Megan Dalphond, and Benjamin Dalphond, all of Plaistow, NH; a great granddaughter, Teagan Marie Bois; a brother, George Dalphond and his wife Maynon of Bellevue, NB; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Raymond Dalphond, Roland Dalphond, and Leo Dalphond.
