Donald J. Colby, a resident of Salem, NH, the beloved husband of the late Priscilla M. "Pat" Colby, with whom he celebrated 64 years of marriage at the time of her death in 2011, died Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Home with his family by his side.
He was born in Lowell on July 2, 1928, the youngest of six children a son of the late Edward Colby and Winifred (Lunderville) Colby Desforges.
He was eduacted in the Lowell schools, and was a member of St. Patrick Parish in Pelham, NH.
Don spent most of his years owning and operating Don's Used Cars, where he sold and repaired automobiles. Two things mattered most to Don, his love of family and race cars. When he wasn't with his family he could be found every weekend at Hudson and Pines Speedways where he ran the wrecker services.
Surviving him are four children, Mrs. Donald (Anne) MacCord of Derry, NH, Mrs. Richard (Anita) Deshaies of Manchester, NH, Mrs. Joseph (Donna) Mcdonald of Manchester, NH; Donald G. Colby and his wife Sue of Kissimmee, FL; eight grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; a sister Hazel Sells of Fort Myers, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
