Tilton, NH – Donald J. Chartrand, 84, a resident of Tilton, NH for the last several years, died Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the New Hampshire Veteran's Home. He was the loving husband of the late Blanche M. (Destrempe) Chartrand.
Born in Lowell on July 31, 1929, he was a son of the late Louis and Anna (Martineau) Chartrand.
Mr. Chartrand was educated in Lowell Schools and served with the United States Army during the Korean War.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the W.R. Grace Chemical Company retiring after 35 years of service.
Prior to living in Tilton, NH, Mr. Chartrand resided with his son Donald for 5 years and had been previously a long time Centralville resident. He was a member of the Centralville Social Club.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Donald J. and Pamela Chartrand, Jr. of Hudson, NH; three brothers, Wilfred Chartrand, Roger Chartrand and his wife Bernadette and Andrew Chartrand, all of Lowell; two sisters, Annette Chartrand and Constance Tessier and her husband Donald, all of Lowell; four grandchildren, Vanessa Brunelle and her husband Joseph of Hudson, NH, Eric Chartrand of Manchester, NH, Bradford Chartrand of Concord, NH and Ashley Martin and her husband Ricky of Nashua, NH; eight great grandchildren, Dylan, Skylar, Brianna and Ava Brunelle, Aaliyah Chartrand, Paris and Paige Chartrand and Jacy Martin; also several nieces and nephews. He was a brother of the late Lucienne Chartrand, Doris Maille and Irene Marchildon.
