Obituary
DRACUT - Dennis J. Gaudet, 60, a resident of Dracut, MA, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 4, 2007, as a result of an automobile accident in New Hampshire.
He was the beloved husband of Christina A. (LaPollo) Gaudet for 32 years. He was the beloved father of his daughter, Kelly L. Gaudet of Dracut.
He was born in Lowell on August 11, 1946, son of the late J. Oliver Gaudet and Marguerite (Desmarais) Gaudet. He was the stepson of the late Estelle (Hervieux-Rousseau) Gaudet.
He was a graduate of Dracut Senior High School and he received a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Education from Suffolk University. He also earned a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Counseling and was certified as a School Psychologist. He served in the Air National Guard during the Vietnam era.
He was a Licensed Senior Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor who worked at Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission for 27 years. During this time, he worked with severely physically and emotionally disabled clients. He also assisted clients who were parole eligible at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution in Concord, MA. His compassion and determination allowed his clients to achieve gainful employment, self-esteem and independence.
He took an early retirement from his counseling career, which enabled him to work with his family at AutoServ in Tilton, NH. During the past twelve years, he was an integral part of the company's management team, a General Manager of it's Concord, NH store and later headed up marketing and public relations for all five dealerships. He loved working with his family and was beloved by all of his co-workers.
He enjoyed sailing, RVing, bike riding, dancing and traveling with his wife. He was an avid reader, who loved political and historical debates. He had a passion for television and movies, which he would watch with his daughter. A simple pleasure that gave him great joy was spending time with his two older brothers, his nieces, nephews and their children.
He will also be remembered for his incredible sense of humor, his innate ability to make everyone around him feel at ease and significant and his amazing talent to fix all things.
He was a 30 year member of Christ Church United in Dracut, where he served on various commissions. He leaves behind an enormous church family.
In addition to his wife and daughter, he is survived by two brothers, Joseph O. "Gus" Gaudet, Jr. and his wife Beverly Gaudet of Dracut and Paul J. Gaudet and his wife Brigid Gaudet of Gilford, NH; his step-sisters, Mrs. Edwin(Ruth) Mason of Dracut and Jeannine Teague and her husband Leo Teague of Lowell; as well as many nieces and nephews.
