LOWELL - Dennis J. "Uncle Den" Gardner, age 71, a lifelong resident of Lowell died Saturday, January 30, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Cecile M. "Cis" (Roeschlaub) Gardner, to whom he was with for almost 50 years.
He was born in Lowell on May 10, 1949 and was a son of the late Francis and Julia (Moran) Gardner. He received his education in Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School.
Dennis proudly served his country as a corpsman in the Airborne Medical Company of the 101st Airborne Division in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Following his discharge from the Army, he began his career as an Emergency Medical Technician, serving the City of Lowell and the Greater Lowell area until his retirement in 2019.
He was a longtime member of the Lowell VFW, Walker Rogers Post 662.
In his free time, Dennis enjoyed camping, boating, spending time with his faithful canine companion Pyper, and watching television, especially Cops, Power TV, and home improvement shows like This Old House. His greatest "pride and joy" however, was spending time in the company of his loving family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children, Holly (Gardner) Allard and her husband Jeffrey of Dracut, Erin Gardner of Pelham, NH, and Dennis F. Gardner and his wife Jennifer of Chicopee; nine grandchildren, Kelsey, Jeffrey, Jake, Jayson, Keenan, Kylie, Megan, Kason and Emerson; a sister, Wendy (Gardner) Parent of Lawrence; a brother, John Gardner of Auburn, ME; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Richard Gardner and Glen Gardner.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Dennis' visitation at the MCKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00pm. Due to Covid-19, face masks and social distancing will be required in the funeral home. His burial will be private in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. A Celebration of Life will be held for Dennis at a later date.
