Lowell

David A. Morris, 75, a lifelong resident of Lowell died Saturday, June 24, 2023 surrounded by his loving family at the Atrium at Drum Hill in North Chelmsford. He was the beloved husband of Olivia A. (Hall) Morris.

He was born in Lowell on August 28, 1947, and was the son of the late Marie D. (Reardon) and Edward L. Morris Sr.. He received his education in Lowell and was a graduate of Keith Academy. In addition to his wife Olivia, David is survived and will be deeply missed by his son John D. Morris and his wife Amy of Lowell; his two grandchildren, Luke and Rosalie; his brother-in-law, Jack Hall and his wife Nancy of Andover; as well as many other family and friends.

David was the father of the late Shana E. Morris who passed In November 2022 and the brother of the late Edward L. Morris Jr..

In his youth, David could throw a football a mile, was a high jumper and a State Championship winning relay member for Keith Academy. During his sophomore year of high school, he met Livvy Hall while rehearsing a skit for the Keith Academy minstrel show in the basement of the Hall family home, which would become the Morris family home where they would go on to enjoy over 50 years of wedded bliss.

Dave was a true family man. Coaching Shana and John’s youth baseball and basketball teams, enjoying trips to Berbeck’s Ice Cream for a banana split, watching his favorite sports teams and Christmas movies and always being home in time for 6 o’clock dinner at the Morris house.

Dave and Livvy were the perfect pair. Making each other smile and laugh with a simple gesture or comment. Whether it was a new nickname (The Old Man and Mayor) or a new grandchild to fawn over, they loved spending time together.

Dave also loved to read history books while sitting in the backyard during all four seasons. Finding a spot in the shade during the summer or bundled up in coats and blankets during the cold months.

David had a wonderful voice and would sing along to his favorite Beatles and Elvis songs.

He was a wonderful listener and had a knack for making anyone feel more comfortable in his presence. His guidance was always spot on. He had the amazing ability to see all sides of a situation and help people reach the solution that worked best for them. He had many great friends in the court system where he spent his career helping people.

Always welcoming to strangers and willing to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, he was inclusive before it was en vogue.

He was a loving grandfather who showed Luke and Rosalie how to sing a bat and he loved to watch them frolic in the pool.
