David H. Daigle, aged 78, a known belated gift-giver, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 15th–his late wife Susan’s birthday. He passed surrounded by beloved family and friends, while they shared stories of his many narrow victories against death, awaiting his single, albeit notable loss.
Born on a foggy, rainy April the 25th, in 1947, David was second-born to Ludger and Mary Isabelle (Greene) Daigle, in Lowell Massachusetts; the family moved to Dracut early in David’s youth, where he would be a lifelong resident, business owner, and tester of OSHA regulations.
A U.S. Army veteran and graduate of Dracut High School, David returned to Dracut after his service, and founded S&D Fence company with his childhood friend and fellow DHS football alumnus, Serge Beaulieu, which has been a community staple, and supported the family for nearly 50 years.
In 1978, David married his wife Susan, and later raised their two boys just two miles from his childhood home. David was a dedicated family man of singular character, a beloved uncle, and a wonderful father. He was an avid skier in his youth, and proud financier of several less-than-reliable watercraft which brought the family much joy, and no bickering at all. David enjoyed supporting his kids’ many endeavors, sitting by the pool, tinkering in his shop, and was a dedicated New England Patriots fan.
David leaves behind his brothers Robert Daigle of Hudson, NH, and Gary Daigle of Pelham, NH. He is also survived by his sons, Keith Daigle, of Londonderry NH, and Kevin Daigle of Santa Monica, CA, As well as his Daughter in law, Deborah Steingesser, and grandchildren Crosby, and Emmylou, all of Santa Monica, CA, along with many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sisters Linda Mungovan (Daigle) of Port Charlotte, FL, Luanne Houston (Daigle) of Litchfield, NH.
Relatives and friends are invited to David's Life Celebration in the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home, 327 Hildreth Street from 4 until 7 PM on Monday, February 2, 2026. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 AM in St. Francis Parish, 115 Wheeler Road. Dracut. Spring burial will be in the Richardson Cemetery.
